The Kanga Project funds rural development projects for women in Tanzania that provide training, education, microloans and that encourage entrepreneurship and sustainability.
The Kanga Project also funds hostels for girls in the grounds of secondary schools so that girls can get a secondary education, help bridge the gender gap and become the skilled workforce that is so badly missing for Tanzania to have a meaningful development path.
Our current projects include:
THE CONSTRUCTION OF A HOSTEL FOR GIRLS
We are half way to completing the building of a 60 bed hostel in the grounds of Ilongero Secondary School. This hostel is being built at the request of the local community because the majority of girls live too far away from the school to be able to attend it as a day school. Many of the private secondary schools in Tanzania provide such accommodations, proving that hostels reduce the vulnerability of girls away from home whilst studying. Girls are less distracted by teenage concerns, do not have to worry about providing for themselves and can share in educational resources, such as books, peer reviews and homework time.
Please make a donation today and help us finish this hostel. Its completion will help us secure more formal sources of funding. Our dream is to build one in every rural secondary school in Tanzania. Please click here for the full story and project details.
CHICKEN REARING BUSINESS
This is one of our income generating projects being funded through micro-loans. Microloans are an efficient way of recycling money so as to support as many as possible. But, more importantly, they are empowering and therefore sustainable as well as the best route to developing an entrepreneurial spirit, itself the key to economic success and development.
We need to expand our microloan funding and the types of income generating businesses, so your donations are essential and will prove to be an investment that bears dividends for years to come.
