Manchester charity gives Christmas its green card

Christmas! A time of goodwill, festivities, merriment and card swopping will produce a lot of fun and laughter, but it will also result in more than 1 billion Christmas cards which are likely to end up in waste bins before we toast in the New Year.

Furthermore around 150 million cards and packets are delivered each day during the pre-Christmas period fuelling our worries about carbon emissions.

However, this year you can have your cake and eat it! With a little bit of thought you can go green this Christmas, support a great cause and still have an excellent time.

“Instead of sending a traditional Christmas card, send a charitable and environmentally friendly virtual card that will let friends and family know you are thinking about them, while supporting a worthy cause,” urges Annie O'Connor of the kanga project.

The kanga project has teamed up with CharityGreetings.com to help the rural women of Tanzania imagine a future free of poverty, patriarchy and ignorance.

With Christmas fast approaching Charity Greetings are an excellent way to send your festive message, support the charity, save paper and save time,” says O'Connor.

To send a Christmas Charity Greeting and support the kanga project visit www.charitygreetings.com/kangaprojectchristmas. It costs just £3.99 for a box set of 30 Christmas Charity Greetings, of which the kanga project will receive £2 per box set.

Charity Greetings make your best wishes count, and spread even more joy to your friends and family this Christmas. Charity Greetings are sent instantly or can be scheduled in advance, so you do not have to worry about postage delays or stamp costs.
