Help us provide opportunities

Once women have received some training in how to run a small business and attended a gender analysis and awareness raising seminar, they decide on what business opportunities is best suited to their group.

For some it will be chicken rearing, for others tailoring or vegetable growing or pottery making. Whatever they decide, the next step is for them to articulate their business plan and financial needs.

The Rural Women Development Association  then help them by providing specific training in the field chosen, a micro-loan to get started and as much supervision as is required.

However, poor rural people are not risk takers and they will not normally embark on entreprises for which they have little knowledge or that require substantial funding. Yet, both RWDA and The Kanga Project believe that only bold projects can raise standards of living well above subsistence levels. This is why we encourage the formation of groups and provide extensive back ups.

One group has presently taken up an opportunity that will prove to be an exciting and rewarding challenge that we hope to replicate many times. See our current projects page for a full explanation.

Please help us increase the availability of these micro-loans.
