WELCOME TO THE KANGA PROJECT

The Kanga Project is all about giving the rural women of Tanzania a voice in their own affairs and thus break the increasingly deepening poverty trap they live in. Although Tanzania is slowly changing, socially, culturally, economically and politically, for the majority of rural women, the vicious circle of poverty is denying them the smallest of these new opportunities.

The Kanga Project raises funds to support the work of grassroots organisations that strive to overcome this cultural and economic marginalisation of rural women.

The Kanga Project and its local partners deeply believe that the path to success and sustainability lies above all in enabling these women to articulate their vision and hopes and to take ownership of their projects. To such end we help fund participatory development projects that address:

· the education of girls and women
· self-awareness and empowerment
· capacity building
· entrepreneurship
· health, hygiene and HIV/AIDS
· civil rights

The Kanga Project does not advocate, prescribe or direct its partners. All we do is offer financial and practical help so that the women’s desires and efforts to overcome their difficult circumstances and lack of education can be made a reality.

Tanzanian women want to do it for themselves

Help us help them
